Amanda Sorensen is a versatile 21-year-old racecar driver and social media influencer currently campaigning the Air Force BMW in Formula Drift, while making select appearances in Extreme E, Nitrocross, sportscar racing, and more. Last season, she debuted in Extreme E for GMC with Chip Ganassi Racing.
Sorensen discovered drifting at age 16. Together with her brother, she started building a competition vehicle with an eye toward top level competition. She learned CAD design and welding on her way to a Formula Drift debut in 2021. The Air Force joined the team in 2022, and she began to focus on social media and marketing, growing her personal following to well over a million fans.
She got her start behind the wheel at the age of 6 when her parents bought a 50 cc go kart for her to share with her younger brother. Motivated by sibling rivalry, both kids were soon upgraded to their own karts and faster classes. Sorensen won her first championship at the age of 9, taking home top honors in the Las Vegas regional Rotax MicroMax Championship.
At age 11, the family racing effort switched from pavement to dirt, and Sorensen debuted in Mod Karts. Results and new classes came quickly, and she won her first Polaris RZR side-by-side championship at age 14. She took victory again a year later in the Side By Side World Finals.
She has been invited to compete as a celebrity guest driver in Nitrocross, the Freedom 500, and Monster Jam. In addition to racing, she enjoys figure skating and playing the harp. She says she is inspired by the chance to motivate young women to pursue their passions and explore unconventional career paths.
